chapter 6: Dysplasias

"The most valuable knowledge we can have is how to deal with disappointments. "

—Albert Schweitzer

"Intoxicated with unbroken success we have become too self‑sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us."

—Abraham Lincoln, 1863

Dysplasias include abnormalities of patellar and trochlear form and some malposition problems. In themselves, they do not necessarily cause symptoms. Many dysplasias are compatible with normal or near‑normal function, just as normal morphology is not assurance of freedom from disease.
